Perhaps it’s the cool fall temperatures, but there was a definite trend at the Broadway opening night of Sylvia on Tuesday toward navy and black monochromatic looks. Broadway Style Guide highlights seven of the sharpest looks of the evening.
Jerry Mitchell
The director/choreographer’s tailored navy blue, pin-stripe, two-button suit with a matching turtleneck nails autumn red carpet style. Turtlenecks are coming back this season in a big way, and we also love the black double monk-strap shoe.
Sarah Jessica Parker
SJP is not afraid of bold fashion choices, and this look is no exception. The black, polka-dot dress features the sheer neckline detailing we’ve been seeing on ready-to-wear runways this fall. She accessorizes the look with a chain metal purse and a crystal-covered pump. And her black blazer puts her square on the menswear trend.
Tommy Tune
Tune stays classy with this two-buttoned, navy suit, navy button-down, and tie with a navy scarf. We are loving the sophistication and simplicity.
Stephanie J. Block & Sebastian Arcelus
Block looks stunning in this navy dress with the off-white lace trim detail, and her hubby, Sebastian Arcelus, looks equally sharp in a navy suit, white button down, navy tie, and a pop of burnt orange for the pocket square. Can you say power couple?
Julie White
Nothing says elegant quite like a floor-length black gown, and we are loving that White dressed it down with a black leather jacket. Add a sheer neckline detail, simple jewelry, and a fresh face and White has hit a fashion home run.
Annaleigh Ashford
Ashford looks chic and sophisticated in this gorgeous black sequin gown. The v-neck, slit, and cap sleeves give it a modern retro appeal.
