Photos: Groundhog Day Opening Night

After a preview period plagued with set malfunctions and the show’s Olivier-winning star suffered a painful knee injury in the show’s final days before opening night, Broadway superhero Andy Karl rallied through to give a historic opening night performance at the August Wilson Theatre, where Groundhog Day opened on Monday night. Based on the 1993 film, the musical has a score by Matilda‘s Tim Minchin, book by the film’s scribe Danny Rubin, and is directed by Tony winner Matthew Warchus. Broadway Style Guide caught the never-ending line up of celebrities and supporters as the cast, crew and Karl himself who graciously embraced everyone at the Gotham Hall afterparty supported by a knee brace under his tailored Todd Snyder suit.
